Ready for a night out to celebrate… tickets are now on sale!!
This year, St Michael’s Lutheran School celebrates 180 years of educating children in Hahndorf, making it not only the oldest Lutheran school in Australia, but also one of the oldest schools in South Australia.
To celebrate this 180-year milestone, our School Council and P&F Committee are planning a weekend of events, beginning with an anniversary dinner and a silent auction
You can purchase a table of ten or individual tickets by going to www.trybooking.com/BEPRU
When booking individual tickets, you will be given a drop down box to select a table. These options include:
– Individual Learning Communities (BLC, JLC, MLC or SLC)
– Your own pre-arranged table of 10: please indicate a table captain (the person who has organised the table)
Does your family enjoy brunch on a Sunday? Do your kids have a favourite breakfast? Does your family require a special diet?
If so, we would love for you to share your recipes with the community. The St Michael’s cookbook has had several families contribute some delicious sounding recipes however we would love to see each family share some of their favourite recipes. This will be a great memento of their time at St Michael’s.
We are aiming for 180 recipes to celebrate our 180th birthday (currently we have 43). It is simple to do and you can add your inspiration to the book. We would love any recipes you can share and in particular the below categories. No time to type? No worries – just send us a photo or scanned version of your recipes and we will add them for you! Email to email@example.com
- Gluten free
- Dairy free
- Sugar free
- Egg free
Do you have a family favourite dessert that makes your kids eat all their dinner just so they can enjoy it? Do you have party food that brings a smile to every birthday? Do festive holidays bring out special family recipes?
We would love for you to submit and share these recipes with our community through the St Michael’s cookbook. It is simple and easy to add a recipe or if you would like us to add these for you simply drop a copy of the recipe to Lee-Anne at the front office. We encourage all families to get involved and share with us your favourites.
Regarding copyright: You can make a note that your recipe has been inspired by another chef i.e. ‘inspired by Jamie Oliver’. Ingredients can be listed exactly as per a recipe, the method will need to be altered/re-worded for copyright purposes.
Wow, it is already part way through term three and what an exciting term we have full of upcoming events.
Sweet Treat Day: Wednesday 14th August: The P & F have been hard at work behind the scenes to bring the school another sweet treats day. A fun favourite to look forward to throughout the school terms. Order forms have been sent home with students and will be due this Friday 9th of August. Please keep an eye out for these.
Father’s Day Stall: 28-29 August: With Father’s Day coming up early next month, what better way than to show all the dads how much we appreciate them than with the Father’s Day Stall. This will be held on the 28th and 29th August for students to get their father’s a little something special. Booklets will be sent home with students later this month so start making a list of all those purchases!
School Disco: Friday 20th September (Week 9): It is time to put on those dancing shoes ready for the School Disco. This will be held on Friday 20th September with more information to follow closer to the time.
Second Hand Uniform Sale: Week 10: Given the support and success of the last Second Hand Uniform Sale we will be holding another one in Week 10 ready for the summer season. We would like to put a call out for anyone who has any second hand uniforms they would like to donate. These can be dropped to Lee-Anne at the front office any time.
The P&F Committee were delighted to fill lots of hungry tummies with warm pies, pasties and sausage rolls on Hot Food Day recently. Thanks to our wonderful school community we raised almost $500 to go towards the new Outdoor Learning Space under construction near Porters Block.
The major fundraiser for this worthy cause will be our 180th celebration dinner and silent auction on Saturday 9th November at Hahndorf Resort. While it may seem a long time away, we are already well into the preparations and need your help with the following;
SAVE THE DATE : Saturday 9th November
SILENT AUCTION DONATIONS :
We really need your help to make this evening a successful fundraiser for our Outdoor Learning Space and are hoping to receive your generous donations of silent auction items. It could be a gift voucher for goods/services/experiences, wine, artworks, sports memorabilia – no matter how big or small, any donation is greatly appreciated! Simply drop your donation into Lee-Anne in the office.

Your friendly P&F Committee
Mother’s Day is that one day of the year when I know that I am going to be allowed to sleep for as long as I like. If you are anything like me however, that means until 7.30am with three or four wakes ups along the way and whispers of ‘Happy Mother’s Day Mummy’. In saying that, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This year I got to spend Mother’s Day with my beautiful children, but also with my own mother. I really believe you never truly appreciate your mum and the sacrifices that they make for you until you are a mum yourself. I hope that many of our Mums, Step-Mums, Grandmas and Nannas had a magical Mother’s Day and felt truly appreciated for all the support and love that they provide.
Again, this year for Mother’s Day I was spoilt with home-made presents from childcare and school along with some beautifully selected gifts from the Mother’s Day Stall. The options at the stall this year were endless. Drink bottles, necklaces, candles, key chains, coffee mugs and cookies and many more assortments of goodies. Of course, I’m sure my kids select the cookies so that they can be ‘shared’ with them.
A big thank you to our wonderful P&F team who always put in an amazing effort in sourcing and making such lovely items for the children to buy, plus everything else that goes into planning and holding the Mother’s Day Stall. We do have lots of fun doing this!! Another big thank you to all of our St Michael’s students and families who support our school by doing their shopping with us. We hope all the mums (and grandmas) out there enjoyed their personally selected gifts, but more importantly, some precious time with their families.
By Hannah on behalf of the P & F Committee
